Home Base: Otter Lake in the Big River Lakes System in the Redoubt Bay Critical Habitat Area
Otter Lake is the Redoubt Bay Lodge cherished home base and the heart of the Big River Lakes system. Here, amidst the breathtaking beauty of our surroundings, Otter Lake is part of Big River Lakes collectively. Flowing into the lake system, Big River flows wide and shallow for 13 miles to reach the nearby Cook Inlet. Our moderate-sized lake is fed by the meltwaters from nearby glaciers and snow-capped peaks. As you explore its tranquil waters, you’ll discover a thriving ecosystem teeming with life.
Anglers are in for a treat, as Otter Lake offers a diverse array of fish species to reel in, from the prized sockeye or coho salmon to the spirited trout, char, and grayling. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just starting out, there’s something at Redoubt Bay Lodge for everyone to enjoy. Our guides will get you dialed in with gear and technique and you’ll be catching fish in no time.
We invite Redoubt Bay lodge guests to experience the fishing firsthand. Join us in embracing the spirit of adventure as you explore the wonders of Big River Lakes by and see what’s biting today! And because we have so many quality fish, we also have stellar bear viewing, another Alaska activity Redoubt Bay Lodge is well known for.
A major landmark nearby is Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. It contains numerous lakes, but the exact number is not readily available as the park covers a vast area of over 4 million acres, and many lakes are remote and unnamed. Notable lakes within the park include Lake Clark, Six Mile Lake, Twin Lakes, Telaquana Lake, and Turquoise Lake.
