We welcome you to Redoubt Bay Lodge 2024 season! An Alaska vacation to Redoubt Bay Lodge provides unparalleled encounters with Alaska Coastal Brown Bears attracted by the abundant salmon. Given our close proximity to Cook Inlet, just 7 miles away, we’re in the prime spot for the early Sockeye salmon run, typically starting in early June. This attracts a significant number of Alaska Coastal Brown Bears, often with their cubs. Thus, June through August stands out as the optimal period for observing these impressive creatures in their natural habitat.

Overnight Guests: What’s Included
If you are departing from Anchorage we will pick up guests from area hotels on your date of travel to Redoubt Bay Lodge. Transportation by float plane to Redoubt Bay Lodge, private accommodations, and gourmet meals designed by our Chef, as well as free house beer and wine are included. Overnight guests select up to three lodge based excursions daily including guided bear-viewing, kayaking and fishing in Big River Lake, surrounding lakes or nearby rivers. Overnight packages are based on a 24-hour period.
Please let us know of any dietary restrictions prior to arrival at Redoubt Bay Lodge and our chefs will gladly accommodate your needs.
Additional Expenses:
Guests have the option to purchase specialty beer or wine, fishing licenses, as well as to add-on any fly out excursions such as hiking in Lake Clark National Park and fishing outside of Big River Lake and associated streams. For added enjoyment, a variety of other adventures are available and listed below. Gratuities for staff are welcomed and are divided among the entire lodge team. It’s a frequently asked question so we let folks know our average gratuity is $100.00 per person per day although it does fluctuate greatly and it should be what you feel.
Add-On Excursions for Overnight Lodge Guests
- Flightseeing ($700.00 per person. 3 person minimum)
Experience breathtaking views in Lake Clark National Park with our one-hour floatplane tour
- Hiking ($950.00 per person. 2 person minimum)
Take off on a floatplane from the lodge, landing in the Summit Lake area for a 4-hour guided hiking tour in Lark Clark Pass. This tour is a botanist’s delight.
- Guided Fly-Out Fishing ($850.00 per person)
Lodge guests can fish Big River Lakes near the lodge for no additional charge, but for anglers looking for more, we have access to some of the most productive waters in the South Central region of Alaska. Several different fishing options are available for Sockeye, King, or Silver Salmon depending on season and corresponding runs.
*All excursions can be changed due to inclement weather and require a 4-person minimum to book.

Our rates are per person and based on a 2-person minimum. Included in the price is round trip airfare from either North Kenai (with Alaska West Air) or from Anchorage to Redoubt Bay Lodge. The rate also includes guided bear viewing and lunch at Redoubt Bay Lodge. If your trip originates from Anchorage, we provide courtesy van transportation from most Anchorage hotels. If departing from North Kenai, you will depart from the Alaska West Air base at: 45495 Citabria Street, Kenai, AK 99611. Trips from Kenai are non-commissionable. Gratuities for staff are welcomed and are divided among the entire lodge team.

Policies and Details
Child Rate: Children aged 12 and under are eligible for the child rate.
Booking: To secure your reservation, a 50% deposit via personal check or credit card is required at the time of booking. Upon receipt of your deposit, a confirmation will be sent to you. Full payment is required 120 days before your arrival date. For reservations made less than 120 days prior to arrival, full payment is due at the time of booking.
Cancellations: Due to our intimate size and short season, any cancellation affects us significantly. If you need to cancel 120+ days prior to arrival, a refund will be given less a 10% cancellation fee. If 120 days or less notice of cancellation, 100% penalty will apply provided we cannot fill the space completely.
Travel Insurance and Weather Policy: We highly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance to safeguard against cancellations, travel disruptions, illness, and weather delays. Redoubt Bay Lodge can assist in providing documentation to your insurance company for reimbursement. Weather Delays and Additional Days: Inclement weather can impact air travel, and Redoubt Bay Lodge cannot be held responsible for weather-related delays or additional days spent at the lodge. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for lost days due to weather preventing plane access to our location. Any additional days spent at Redoubt Bay Lodge, including those caused by weather delays, are considered normal days with all amenities and services included. Prior to departure from the lodge, an additional charge of $450.00 per person per day will apply.
